Alcaraz has been surprisingly inconsistent, but he's only 21. He has plenty of time to figure out why he cannot maintain his top level week in and week out.

I expected Djokovic to beat Alcaraz because of that inconsistency and because I simply have not seen the slippage from Dkokovic that others have. He wanted to win one tournament desperately last year and did it, beating Alcaraz on clay in straight sets for the gold at the Olympics. For most of the rest of the year he appeared disinterested except at Wimbledon, when he was coming off knee surgery and could not move well.

Sinner has been awfully good, but he might have to serve a year's suspension that forces him out of the next four slams. It is hard for me to see Djokovic beating him if they play in the final, but like Keys against Sabalenka, I don't think it's impossible. Djokovic was awful in their semi a year ago and is much more motivated this time, but Sinner definitely is playing at a high level and has been really good on clutch points as well.

You were saying about Keys?

I've always felt she was the most unfairly criticized player in tennis. Yes, she's inconsistent, but much of that issue is due to injuries. When she stays healthy, she can beat anyone.I really want her to win a slam because she was the best player at the U.S.Open in 2017 but ran into a finalist in Sloane Stephens who had the perfect game to beat her, partitcularly when she was a nervous mess as the heavy favorite. She nearly beat Sabalenka in the 2023 U.S. Open semis when she had a huge lead, which would have set up a toss-up match in the final against Gauff.

I expect her to beat Swiatek if they play in the semis because Swiatek is a bully on hard courts. She crushes opponents who cannot match her power but crumbles when they stand up to her, which Keys certainly can. Beating Sabalenka in the final would be tough because Sabalenka plays the big points better than Keys and has proven her mettle in finals, but Sabalenka has not been in top form here, so it's not impossible.

1. Pick quarterfinalists, semifinalists and champions for both ATP and WTA draws. You will receive 7.5 points for each correct quarterfinalist, 5 points for each correct semifinalist and 20 points for each correct champion.

2. SUBSTITUTE PICK: Pick a player from each draw to replace one of your quarterfinalists. If this player makes the quarters, they will take the place of whomever you picked in that section of the draw.

3: BIGGEST LOSER: Pick the highest seed that will lose in the earliest round from each draw. The player must be a top 16 seed. You will get 5 points if your seed is the highest to lose and 2 points if your seed falls in the same round as the highest seed to lose.

Picks must be posted before the start of play or soon afterward or at least before the trophy presentations at the end of the tournament.

I don't see Djokovic winning another slam because he won't have the same motivation. His body should hold up another year or two, though, so I hope I'm wrong.

I got the women's finalists right and three of the four semifinalists.

I can't recall doing that before in modern times.

Assuming Sinner beats Draper, it looks like I will win by a half-point if Pegula beats Sabalenka and by 20.5 points if Sabalenka wins as expected.

Congrats on the win. I had five men's quarterfinalists to your four, but in an incredibly unpredictable women's draw, you got one of the quarterfinalists while I got none. The difference was you having Alcaraz making the final while I had him losing in the semifinals. Doesn't matter now whether he wins, which I do not think he will.
