The 2014 WTFs

Djokovic looks to have an easier group, with Federer and Murray in the opposite one.  Wawrinka could make it as a surprise semifinalist, but he's been inconsistent.

Head over heart says Djokovic wins this one.

If you were ever wondering why more tournaments don't use round robin, check out the description of how the semifinal players are chosen:

Re: The 2014 WTFs

Plus, they tried this several years ago on the regular tour and had issues in the Las Vegas tournament with players tanking and withdrawing after they had no chance to advance and some other issues I can't remember. It was a huge embarrassment and they abandoned the format after one year.

Re: The 2014 WTFs

The WTF has been embarrassingly bad this year. I don't think there's any overlying reason, but it does indicate that no one other than Djokovic, Federer and Nadal (when healthy) is playing at a championship level. Quite simply, this is a weak field without Nadal. Berdych, Cilic, a mentally spent Murray (from playing six weeks in a row) and Raonic are not capable of competing at the top even when they play well. It's a shame Ferrer failed to qualify because at least he would have fought, as he showed in losing to Nishikori in in 3 sets.
